Hmmm...
it's a flexible cable so the rocking of the ship should not extend beyond the point of contact. However, rise and fall of the ship would effectivly cause ripples. I wonder what the stability will be (I assume we are talking more like an oil rig than a ship) Also, does any one know what the flexibility properties of carbon tubes are? It's great to be stronger than steel but it's not so great if they snap when you roll them onto a spool.
