Software patents
There are problems with the whole concept of software patents. The knee jerk reaction is to do away with them.

What I feel need to be done is to stop trying to fit a patent system designed for physical object on to software. Sure Patent software, that makes sense, but patent it according to how software is made, promoted and distributed. That means consider the lifespan of software. In 10 years software is is dead so no need to give it a 20 year patent and if anything 20 year patents just hinder innovation in software. This does not mean due away with software patents as no patents could be just as harmful today with the dominating big tech corporations. I'd say give software patents a 3 year span and allow yearly renewals for fee after that for a total of say 4 or 5 years.
