Wait, car designers have no idea what kind of car you want either.
Better start designing your own car too. Heck, get busy and write your own office suite, email client, none of the people writing applications know what you want.

And, buying services does not mean you can't have a fat client. You could still have office suite, email, etc, so you can work offline with a laptop for instance. But, even with client server, you have to be connected to the network for some of your applications.

Hosted applications will first replace client server, not fat client applications like an office suite. We will eventually see hosted office suites that can be cached locally so you can edit files offline, and automatically sychronize when you reconnect.
