- They will rent the software, but a lot will not store their data offsite. How about the retail public? They are not going subscription model. They will also store their files locally. No one is going to hold my data hostage when changing providers. You think Gmail is the indicator for your thinking that this is the trend? It will apply for simple appliances. Heavy lifing (Caterpillar) will be client server. Client server is going to stay.
