Yes we do lose electrical power down here in Florida when lightning strikes switching stations.

Do not have more than 100k in the bank or it is not FDLIC insured. I do not have to worry about that. They are leaking identity info to outsiders. How about patent drawings. Or espionage.

Client server isn't going to die. It is the only system that accelerated the growth of pcs. It is the model that gives the highest performance for the least money with the slowest connection. The infastructure is the most expensive to deploy.

Net computer:
Max control for mainframe
Least control for client
Least reliable/redundent
Most expensive
Limited software choices
Total control of content. DRM is needed. Data is offsite.

Client Server:
Max control for server
Max control for client
Average reliable/redundent
Average expenses
Max software choices
Good control of content. No DRM needed. Data is local.

P2P:
No server
Average control for client
Max reliable/redundent
Cheaper expenses
Max software choices
No control of content. DRM is needed. Data is everywhere.

The client server setup is very useful. There is more to computing than the web. The Web is overrated anyway.

As for paranoia, only the paranoid survive.
