Does anyone practice common sense
The reason this is a bad idea for medium to big companies, because that company would be dead if some accountany/secertary forgets to pay the bill. As someone said earlier most companies would be one backhoe dig away from being shut down. We already pay enough for consultants why spend more? Plus who would you trust with your customer lists, pricing guides, and contracts. Alot of this info you already limit to certain employees in a company, so you will put that info on a server in some data center on the other side of town or country? Get real, lots of companies already did pay a service contract years ago, so how many people remember paying IBM forever just to use their green screens? or IBM shutting you down because you check bounced or forgot to send it?
Why must we always keep going backwards. Todays desktops are more powerful and cheaper then ever. Standarized software loads for your company and you can replace every box inside an hour. When (not if)the network goes down you can still create documents and create emails until the network is up and running and they are sent automaticly. When you have employess working from home/hotel/off site or on a client site they need portable power not (sorry you do not have a high speed connection so I can not use word to write up instructions or a contract.)or I infected your network because I use public networks at my home office. This guy is full of it his eyes are brown. just like IT does not matter, when actually if more companies actually use thier IT services more effeicently they would get a bigger payoff.

Will computing flow like electricity?  Loverock Davidson | 06/17/05
How about debating this. If it happens, Microsoft is in trouble.  DonnieBoy | 06/17/05
To be honest  Loverock Davidson | 06/17/05
Possibly but  IT Scion | 06/17/05

I will bet on trusted centralized ISPs over individual companies.  DonnieBoy | 06/18/05

Electricity is reliable enough for 99.9% of applications.  DonnieBoy | 06/18/05
Not really  osreinstall | 06/18/05
Customers will store their data where it is safe, at a trusted ISP.  DonnieBoy | 06/18/05
The will resurrect the Studebaker too!  osreinstall | 06/18/05
A trusted ISP will not have all of your eggs in one basked.  DonnieBoy | 06/19/05

ISPs that do not take care of your data will go out of business, FAST.  DonnieBoy | 06/19/05
They don't take care of the data now.  osreinstall | 06/19/05
No, centralized computing is on the rise. Have you used Webmail??  DonnieBoy | 06/18/05
