I say yes we will exist
I wonder if the "problem" with some IT departments is that they are too fat to start with...to diversified. In our case, we are pretty lean and have really been running understaff for years. We have pulled in consulting power where we are weak and that has worked well, but we still maintain all of our own infrastructure as well as doing other traditional IT stuff. The one area where we have tried outsourcing is our helpdesk and that has not worked out as well as we would have hoped.
