- Your right,, IT departments will change.
- But don't kiss them goodbye. IT departments today are nothing similar to what they were thirty years ago. Back then it was a main-frame world with the deveoted band ot IT staff working it a glass enclosed, environmently controled room. Today that has been replaced by a combination of roaming support techs (desktop maintancence) and server support teams. There may even be some inhouse programming in place. We don't really know where the IT department may be headed. It might be downsized and re-aligned. It may become divided out to the different departments, but the IT department will remain.
