Replace IT? Not bloodly likely...
...at least in our shop.

Yeah, I can see it now. The business units are going to make IT decisions. Ok. We've been practicing this for the last ten years and have been left with the following result: we have four different database systems, mostly housing the same data in a different format, three different operating systems (not to mention differing versions of same - one of the vendors insists on using NT and nothing we can say will get them to change) and I won't mention all of the different applications, which do close to or exactly the same thing, that were purchased by the business units because they 'had to have them'. We're going to leave the technology decisions up to the folks who go with whoever bought them the best lunch last? Right.

We may not be doing application development in the classic sense, but someone's gonna have to make all of the fancy equipment/software/systems that the business units insist on buying work together.

We'll still be here...
