Foreign workers are difficult to deal with
Foreign workers tend to be very nice, not talk back, work long hours, etc.

But the problem is, they are very nice, do not talk aback, and work long hours. But their English tends to be bad and their skills aren't necessarily better.

They are very nice, so they aren't straightforward with their communication. If something important needs to be said, but it might ruffle feathers, they won't say it. This causes later problems in the system, delays in communication, and lots of 'gotchas' that you don't find out about until later.

They do not talk back. So they will do what the manager tells them, even if it is the wrong thing, even if it doesn't make sense. If you try to raise the important issues with them, they won't talk back acknowledging your point. They will just do what they think their manager wants them to do. This causes EXTREME problems later, bad code, differing coding practices, BAD coding practices, all adding risk and cost to the project.

They work long hours, which makes them look good. But a lot of time they do a lot of extra things that don't need be done to justify this, either that or they take a long time to do very simple tasks. Either way, their working long hours is completely useless and usually leads to them either being burned out, or making the other employees look bad unnecessarily.

These programmers skills aren't necessarily better. Dumb managers equate longer working hours to better coding or something, but that just isn't so.

Plus, foreign workers English skills tend to be bad, which leads to so many miscommunications it isn't funny. They don't want to send e-mails, they don't understand English, they don't write good documentation.

Bottom line is ... foreign workers don't help the IT industry at all. In fact, they hurt it because managers seem to think IT people are expendable, but the fact is, a project doesn't run itself. Code doesn't write itself. Without proper management of programmers and without a good team, you can't get the job done. So these foreign workers wind up costing businesses a lot more in the long run in failed projects, low worker morale, etc.

Please stop hiring foreign workers, and work more with your native staffs. It just isn't helping hiring all these foreigners.
