---If the photographers don't like what Nikon does, they should vote with their wallet and move to Canon or some other company---

I agree, and this is great advice for someone buying their first camera. The problem is that for many, they've already invested tens of thousands of dollars in buying Nikon lenses. That's a huge investment to throw out just on principle, no matter how righteous a principle it is.
