Attention Opera: Get your act together please!

I use Opera on my laptop. In fact, I'm typing this using Opera8 right now. I also design my own personal webpage for fun using nothing but a text editor. My webpage contains flash-like animation based solely on javascript, CSS, and DOM.

So you can tell by now my pages depend heavily on box models.

For almost every version change - major or minor - in the past 3 years, Opera manages to sneak in some modifications to their box model implementation every single time. You think writing JS animations that's compatible in both Mozilla and IE is tough? Try adding compatibility to Opera6 + Opera7 + Opera7.23 + Opera7.54 + Opera8 all together!

Opera is extremely fast (the animation refreshing is 10x faster than Mozilla), and its footprint is the smallest of all. But making a webpage look and work the same in all version of Opera is a major task of its own.

Bottomline: Opera isn't going places is entirely its own fault. They made it such a pain in the axx for designers to write code that most had just given up making pages compatible with Opera. I can tell you if I were designing webpages for a living, I'll make up reasons to tell my clients that Opera's market share is meaningless just to avoid the work.
