This is not a stupid article
Yes, there are methodes to get rid of the DRM, however I would bet you that over 50% of the people that are using ITunes are not computer geeks that would try to work around the DMR. Most of the people use ITunes because it's convenient and easy to use and it's most likely that 99.99% of the people using ITunes own an IPod, which is basically the core of Apples's business plan. Apple makes more money buy selling IPods than by selling songs.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not defending record labels I'm just saying the article is perfectly well constructed and makes a lot of sense.

It is not a myth, I'm sure that record execs are not pleased to lose control of some of the song selling market. They've probably realized that if the market is really shifting from buying CDs to buying music online (i.e. if the people that buy music on ITunes are the same people that used to buy CDs) they've got themselves a deal with the devil. Apple will become the main music distributor and record label companies be reduced to content providers, which will have a tremendous impact on their benefits.
