- Not "for the little guy"
-
Actually, for industry-wide standards. What IBM came to realize, as it moves ever more into the services business, that pushing an all-IBM solution won't work, even for a company its size. This leads to the switch from "make a better Unix" (the AIX manta) to "make Linux better." The product side needs to ensure that the very best products are available to their integrators, to continue success stories with the customers and continue to grow the business on reputation.
But understand that IBM is not out there "for the little guy." It's a corporation, owned by and beholden to its stockholders, and the little guy is an ally of convenience. Not a bad thing, but always keep your allies close and your enemies closer - bearing in mind roles could switch at any time. - Posted by: IT_User Posted on: 04/13/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
