the real issue here is how free is the user to use cable networks as opposed to regulated dsl (telephone provided lines).
there is NO management of dsl lines, data is data regardless of whether it is voice, video or webpages. I dropped my cable line many years ago since they blocked several of my tcp ports. their response was that this was THEIR network and that's the way it is.
I wonder how Vonage and other suppliers will try to get cable operators to stop their blocking antics.
