Actually, destroying a market with "GPL freedom" is stupid. In the business world it is called dumping. If you sell a product at cost, below cost or give it away free, it is dumping. Read up on Toyota back in the seventies. It is illegal. Wonder if linux will fall under those guidelines.

As for living in a free society, you will not. You will confine yourself to a financial prison. None of your work will be protected and it will be difficult to compete with the big guy without any IP. You guys will be taking each others work, modify it, and the big guy gets the services contract anyway. This is what happed to the Soviets with their collectivism. It is a rebadged failed economic system.
