I see free/open source as an economic change
In the same terms as, say when Palm Pilots were $300 each, now
they are $50, and the bottom is dropping out of the market.
There could be crowds of Palm employees writing in to these
boards complaining that the cost/benefits of Palms should be
kept constant, otherwise they'll be out of jobs.
That's socialism.

I'm for capitalism. Hey if someone makes a car where I can
change the spark plugs for $2 in five minutes, I'm NOT going to
pay the mechanic down the road $100 to do it.
He can winge all he likes about technology putting him out of a
job. Tough. It happens. Have some beers, get over and find
another niche.

You CAN'T CHOOSE to make an uneconomic career economic in
a capitalist society. Otherwise, I'd get people to pay me $100
and hour to sit on my ass and watch DVDs.
