The end of the search engine dictators
The internet is way too vast of a medium to only listen to 1 voice. Even google in all their glory only indexes about 10% all pages that exist.

As searchers, our best opportunity to actually find what we are looking for is to combine the top resources into one, easy to use, site. If not we are only getting the news from 1 source which is prone to error and abuse.

Filtering out spam is one of the best features for meta search engines. It's easy to beat the algorithm of 1 engine but difficult to rank that spammy site across multiple ones. That's what it would take to have spam results show up in a good meta engine.

One of the biggest drawbacks I have found using some of my favorite search engines ( http://www.momma.com , http://querythe.net & http://www.dogpile.com ) is the speed of the service. Google serves up a page in a fraction of a second. Performing a meta search frequently takes 5 seconds to complete the page load. This is, however, a small price to pay for actually finding what you are looking for the 1st time.
