---What matters (and what the RIAA owns) is the content, but that exactly is what file sharing makes available.---

Again, we may just be arguing semantics, but the RIAA does not own the content, the 1's and 0's. They do have an exclusive monopoly on distribution though. As I said before, if I buy a cd, I certainly own that content. What I can do with that content is limited by law, but it is mine.

Okay, another semantic argument. I originally read what you were saying as that people doing legal activities should be stopped, even though they're still legal. And in the case you bring up (and it's an awful silly one, comparing the horrors of slavery to the protection of RIAA's cocaine habits), when slavery was legal, you had no right to stop anyone from owning a slave. You had no legal standing. That's the way our country works. You can certainly work to change the laws, and should certainly protest actions you find deplorable, but infringing on others' legally granted rights will land you in jail. If you feel strongly enough about protecting the RIAA's profits that you're willing to face jail time, go right ahead.

And the RIAA's freedom to enforce the protection of their profits ends where my rights begin as well. It's a two way street.

It's interesting how you seem to put the rights of the RIAA above the rights of us normal citizens. What about our fair use rights (codified by law)?
