I'm not so sure
--- If all these works become freely available, who will be able to afford to create the works. No more art, no more culture---

I don't agree at all. I don't think humans will stop creating if you take away their ability to get rich from their creations. We've always done this, it's in our biological makeup. Did cavemen expect to get rich from cave paintings? When they sat around the campfire, did they sing songs because they expected to get rich from them?

Now, I do agree that a wise society rewards its creators. I'd argue that our current system is broken in some ways, because most of the rewards from music sales don't go to the creator, they go to the company executive. There are many examples of best-selling musicians declaring bankruptcy because of raw deals from their record company (TLC is one recent example).

---Besides, all that will happen if people remain unchecked in P2Ps is that movies and music (and perhaps even books) will get stronger and stronger DRM attached to it.---

That's one way it could go (and one which is likely to be held on to by the RIAA as they die, kicking and screaming all the way). The other way is to see artists taking more control of their own work, their own creation, their own marketing. I'm still a proponent of p2p systems like Weed, which harnesses the power of p2p but uses protected files. This system actively encourages you not to pirate by giving you a financial incentive to use the DRM'ed version of the file, rather than an uncontrolled one:
