blogger journalism
Traditional journalists have rights which cannot be lightly abridged by the government, but they are also responsible to the managers of media companies, who must exercise some control over how journalists function and enforce some level of competence and quality (2nd rate though it often is). Who controls bloggers? There is an enormous amount of information on the Internet, and unfortunately, a good deal of it is incorrect, including much blogging. Many accept garbage info from blogs which they would reject if encountered in print. High-tech seems to lend a false odor of sanctity. I would be more willing to offer bloggers 1st amendment rights if they could be held to proper journalistic standards.
