How did you find out...
... about these singers and shows?

As a publicity machine, the content companies will still be necessary.

The internet is a distribution method. Yes, many can use it, but they will be so numerous and so well hidden that it will be difficult to discover them.

For example, say I'm interested in bluegrass mandolin players. Am I going to do a search and download samples from each site to identify the ones I will enjoy hearing?

And if there are people willing to do the testing for me and report the results, how will I find those sites and know who the reliable ones are?

No, the internet has limits as a way to discover someone I want to hear.
