Why does MS have to be open compliant
If I were you guys, I would not worry about Microsoft and develope your own technology. That way you would be proactive instead of reactive. You are not going to force them to your way of thinking. You are after all, the competition.

Another thing is, why is an open standards body the only legitimate standard? Why can't you guys peacefully coexist next to each other on the web? If you guys don't interact 100% compatible, who cares? Load up both browsers and do it. Open source has a few anyway so you can't use the convience excuse.
