Complicated explaination of a network computer
John,

Computing is more complicated than electrical power. Customer needs vary a lot more than 110, 220 or 440. If you have confidential data, you store it locally and encrypted. The infastructure of the network is so limited, that if everyone logs on, it crawls. Can you imagine if the apps. were stored on the WAN and everyone just rented by the hour. A few computers puts a load on 10/100 ethernet. You would need fiber optic to make this a reality to every dwelling.

Oh by the way, a personal computer is personal because we get to modify our own computer. I would not want an appliance for a computer, even though I have a few; router, calculator, printer, ignition system. Not a PC.
