Look to the past to see the future
I doubt if this will be read by many people since I have been off the internet for about 2 weeks, but let me add my two cents in here.

To me the substance of what is trying to be developed is described in a paper published in 1946 by Dr. Vannaver Bush titled 'As We May Think'. In that publication he described a desktop which he called MEMEX where the desktop, as it is used, becomes an extension of the intellect of the individual user.

Later he published a book, which was a series of his essays titled( I think ) 'Memex Revisited'. These publications are a wonderful example of creative intellect that has not been cluttered up by the minutiae and overly detailed complexity of how computer applications are actually implemented at this time.

My, what a mess we have created.
