Oh geeze
Okay, so out of morbid curiosity I decided to download Netscape. It looks like a *REALLY* bad throwback to Neoplanet, or possibly a person's first novice attempt at creating a new skin for Firefox.

I am completely confused as to what Netscape is thinking in the browser department. They were the leader, and their loss in the browser war was just as much their fault as it was Microsoft's because of an insanely long development period that produced a browser no one ever pays attention to anymore. When they finally had something worth to call Netscape (read: Firefox), they broke it off and told them to have a nice life.

Then once again only a few months later they decided to create yet ANOTHER browser to call Netscape. If they wanted a Netscape Browser, they should have kept Mozilla/Firefox, now Firefox has all the fanfare and everyone will just yawn at their attempt. "Look ma? I copied someone else!"

I'm not sure who's making the "big decisions" but the people at TimeWarner / AOL / Netscape / EverythingElse need a serious reality check. They've been handed more than enough opportunities to strike back at their arch enemy Microsoft and dropped the ball. Netscape had a chance to regain its namesake and tossed it out on its own. AOL had a chance to break free from IE by using Netscape as its core browser but never followed through. They had a chance to revolutionize Internet music years ago with a $100 million dollar purchase of Winamp and killed it.

If I were a stockholder, I would be seriously pissed. AOL is dead once dialups finally disappear. Alternatives to all their extra "services" are all over the Internet and done better. The AOL execs must be weeping at night wishing they were Yahoo, and the Time Warner execs must be weeping over failed multi-billion dollar merger.
