It would be next to impossible to go selectively after the right ones...
It is obvious that their PR isn't thinking this out. I cannot imagine
how one could devise DRM strategy to allow 'casual piracy'
(time/space shifting), but prevent mass piracy. Clearly, this is an
insurmountable technological obstacle. I don't think that these
people are 'ignoring the real threats against their business'; they
are just not admitting that thay don't have any idea how to
combat that threat.

It seems that again, Apple figured out the most acceptable
model, though; 'casual piracy' works fine (5 computers, 10
copies of the CD). Realistically, Burning 1,000 copies of that CD
isn't any more difficult than making copies of an ordinary
commercial audio CD. Perhaps that's what they were aiming for
- not making it any easier than it already is with regular CDs.
