Microsoft is a corporation... NOT a standards body...
A standards body is devised to form a consensus for the benefit of ALL. Microsoft has not made any contributions with that in mind. Microsoft only wants standards that benefit their continual attempts to maintain their monopoly on the OS market.

Standards are not devised in opposition to Microsoft. To the contrary, standards are developed to allow all vendors to participate. It is Microsoft that develops software in opposition to this principle. If they can't control it, and use it against competitors they don't want it. Simple as that.

Your adoration of the pond scum in Redmond is sorely misplaced. How many times must they prove that they are ruthless, unethical dollar worshipers before you get a clue?

Perhaps you should check out the latest news.... I believe I read that IE 7 will be release as a stand-alone product. Hmmmmm. Wasn't that an issue in their anti-trust trial? Didn't that say in a court of law that making IE a standalone product would destroy Windows? I think they said it would make Windows "unuseable" or something like that. I guess in Microsoft's dictionary, the definition of "truthful" is "whatever it is that benefits us at that time".

>>Despite that, they avoided recognizing Microsoft's contribution in the standards.

More perversely, some people have chosen to accept the W3C standards above others which could have averted the difficulty.

More perversely still, Microsoft is being criticized for not following standards which were devised in opposition to them<<
