iTunes/.ACC gives me a choice other than .WMA when it comes to Music downloads. (Sony does the same, though lame). Can another company lead a market or do you want MS to dominate everything. They?re licensing .WMA to Napster and others to become the de facto standard. Once it does say goodbye to any other competing codec that may be better. And we all know how great MS products are once it becomes standard. (IE anyone?)

That being said, Apple is in a position that it is not in too often. They have a responsibility to Win. customers to make it very clear that iTunes purchase songs could only play on iPods, CD players, Cars, other computers, share with friends..... Oh wait, they do have choices.
