Sorry, it's a non-starter. Music from the iTMS can be played on a wide variety of devices not manufactured by Apple. They're called "Windows PC's", and "cd players". Plus, you've got Motorola building cel phones that are capable of playing iTMS songs as well.

As for Sony, you've got non-Sony manufactured PC's that can play their songs just fine.

Note also that France has already decided that Apple does not have to share their DRM with others:
