Society's mentality
One thing I have never been able to understand is society's mentally when it comes to computers and software. Would ANYONE buy a car that hasn't been fully tested? Would anyone buy a baby stroller or car seat that hasn't been tested? Would anyone buy [insert just about anything] without being tested?

I just don't get it. WHY does society not demand MORE from these software companies? We need a software lemon law. The consumer should be able to take back ANY software if it does not work on their machine or if it does not live up to their expectations. AND NOW they are trying to justify selling BETA software? Perhaps we need an industry acceptable 'standard' percentage ratio of known bugs to the number of lines of code. When it reaches a certain percentage, then it's considered 'gold'. I understand that software is getting more and more complex, but you can't call software 'beta' for ever and expect us to accept that.

Personally, I NEVER USE any software labelled beta. In fact, I usually wait then version X.1. That wasy I know that some of the bugs have been fixed.
