What do vagrancy laws have to do with having to show your papers to get on an airplane?

You can be arrested for being in public without ID, it has been that way for many many years. The constitution has no such guarantee that gives you the right to be anonymous in public, nor in a private business either, if they want to see your ID to enter a club or plane or trane etc, that is their RIGHT to do so. You have NEVER had the right to go anywhere without having to show ID.

Why do I have to identify myself to some minimum wage employee of a private security firm or an airline?

Don't want to show your ID to board a PRIVATELY owned plane? Then try another form of transportation, such as walking, bicycle, your own PRIVATE car or a bus (although Greyhound might make you show ID, the public transports don't). There are many ways to travel that don't involve having to show your ID to anyone. No one is forcing you to travel by plane.

I suppose you don't like showing your DL when you are pulled over. Yes, how oppressive that is. Or having to prove you're old enough to buy alcohol, or showing your ID to vote, or to write a check. All of these things have been this way for many many years. You see them as oppressive?

Why does our government have secret laws that they refuse to tell us about?

If they are secret, then how do you know about them? And if you know about them, they are NOT secret. But I suppose you can always blame Bush. wink
