But it's not what the issue is about. It's about Google selling access to trademarks.

Suppose Google sell access to the word "Microsoft" to my PC software company, "Fredstuff Inc.". I am now effectively using a large "Microsoft" sign on the front of my (virtual) shop to drawn customers. Microsoft has not sanctioned the use of their name, yet Google has sold it to me.

If Google want "Microsoft" searches to include links to "Fredstuff" because users find that useful, then fine, but they can't sell access, that is trading on Microsoft's trademark.
