first vs third party cookies
a first party cookie is one that the website you are visiting places. it comes from the same domain and is usually used to hold username password info so you dont have to keep typing it. also things like shopping carts etc. it is a small text file that identifies your computer between page transitions.

third party is from say a second website that has an ad on the first websites page. theyre tracking to see how often the ad is loaded to you and if you click on it, etc.

i block all third party cookies and only allow first party. i also clear all cookies anyway. but adaware and spybot usually do too.
