Thank Gawd you don't work for me.
First, I never said I practice this nor that I wished too. If you don't grasp the differnece then I suggest you read it again.

As to employees, some are great, some are less than great. In my company I give my people a very free hand in how they conduct themselves. The great ones handle it well, the less than great ones don't fair as well and tend to *abuse* the freedom granted to them.

In the case of such abuse a very real and quantifialble record of the abuse is always a good thing to have. As in, Mack you have spent 2 hours a day for the last week farting around on the web and that is not what your being paid to do. Pay for your past use (abuse) and don't let it happen again...

Gee, seems simple enough to me. It takes away Mack's argument that it was "work related" farting around because it has an audit trail. If it also has a dollar amount attached to BOTH the internet use AND his per hour cost (all burden incliuded) it should be a real eye opener for Mack. If not, then Mack needs to find another job...
