Why would a Google branded browser be a source of profit? Let alone a desktop.
Probably for the same reason that MS spends $billions$ on a browser that they include for free in the OS, or $billions$ on a media player ditto.
Answer: it's a strategic move. In Google's case, a defensive one. With MS having declared Google to be their next corporate target, Google needs to make sure that MS isn't in a position to "leverage the Windows monopoly" by using IE to cripple Google.
There's also a potential positive element, in that Google can add features to Firefox that Google can take advantage of to either offer better value or reduce costs. - Posted by: Yagotta B. Kidding Posted on: 01/28/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
