"The MPAA's new software, "Parent File Scan," is aimed at identifying file-swapping software applications and multimedia files on a computer, so that--in theory--parents can evaluate whether the files on their computer have been legally acquired and talk with children about the legalities of peer-to-peer activity."
Ummmmmmm..yeah..sure. Gimme a goddamnn break! First off, the odds of a parent knowing how to even USE a computer just as good as or better than little Johnny is slim to none, and slim just went off to smoke a little crack down the street there. Second, the odds of a parent even KNOWING what P2P is, or about the whole file trading thingy, or most laughably, the "legalities" in dealing with all this crap is even slimmer to noner! Finally, and the most overlooked part of all this: in an age where typical parental mentoring only extends as far as placing little Johnny in front of the boob tube, the idea that a parent would take the time out to discuss P2P software with their little junior (when they don't even discuss real things like school, sex, growing up, life, etc.) is just RIDICULOUS. This will crash and burn faster than you can spell turd.. - Posted by: Jeff Spicoli Posted on: 01/26/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
