But as you say a speed trap catches people
So far no one has been charged with copyright infringement and I don't see that happening in the future either. It's too hard to prove beyond a reasonable doubt.

So when police set up a speed trap they catch a couple dozen people. Thier presence alone on the streets causes people to slow down.

This is not so with fileswapping. It happens and law enforcement just shruggs it's shoulders.

Patents haven't changed much other than adding 20 yeard to bring them from 17 to 37 years. US copyright laws are downright insane. 90 years after the death of the artist. That's like 150-200 years later and will that be increased again when Mickey Mouse approaches the public domain. Copyrights are not serving thier purpose and niether are patents. They serve the greedy only. I'm all for allowing creative people to profit off thier creations not to this extreme.

Also I do agree, I do believe respect for the law has diminished. When I was growing up we respected the law. I look at society today and just shake my head, headed for anarchy we are.
