Problem is
When a law is unenforceable and a majority of the population break the law the law in invalidated.

So lets apply that to copyright infringement. Last article I read claimed that there were 60 Million P2P pirates in the US alone. That a hefty majority of computer users. That just the people who break the law using P2P software. It's not counting those who do so by other means such as copying text books on photocopiers for example.

I think even evidenced here on these message boards your view is of the minority. You and No_axe, and Yeah_right to how many others. I'd guess 10-1.

Also there are lot of people like me who don't break the law that don't see this as problem.

So that's your majority. Now how easy is this law to enforce. Well not one single case has gone to criminal court yet. A few thousand have been threatened with civil cases. So it's obvious this law is not being enforced but can it be enforced? Who do you charge, how do you prove it beyond a reasonable doubt?

So should the law be changed? I think so. It should change to something more acceptable to the people. Copyrights have gotten out of hand and now this one of the results. The people have lost respect for the law. That's a hard thing to replace unless you live in police state.
