Why not leave France?, Or hash it
I don't see why they don't pack up, leave France and sell to France from another country in the EU.
The French courts have always been a bit, well, sureal, but giving the French a sitting target by having a French subsiduary seems a bit dumb.

Alternatively why not give customers a chance to advertise on MD5 hashes of words instead?

Or how about if they try to advertise using the "Meridian" keyword to France you decline, but offer them a rule set that achieves the same thing, e.g. Sorry advertiser, You can't target "Meridian" as a keyword but you can serve adverts
to search entry number #2034535958 is on the page (where search entry number 2034535958 is Meridians website entry in the table).

In other words achieve the same thing but without using the meridian name or a direct proxy of that name.
