We were headed down the fragmented road to Hell the way things were going...

Just think. You purchased $5000 worth of Music from an online music vendor. Then they go out of business. You can't 'authenticate' yourself any more so there goes $5000 worth of music down the drain.

The same problem exists with "Product Activated" software. In this business, compaines go out of business every day. Every hour sometimes it seems.

That $200 Document Management Software you bought that is "Product Activated" (Damn you Scansoft - You fooled me this time, never again) all of a sudden becomes a worthless disc if the developer goes out of business.

Define Irony - Dr. Divx. A utility for copying and re-coding DVD's. It has Product Activation protection happy
