Objectivity was always an illusion/
There never was any such thing as objectivity, since we all create our own universes out of our attitudes, educations, experiences -- the sum total of what makes us who we are. Thus, I can go to a small town in the Yucatan and say it's an idyllic beach, and you can go and call it a filthy place with toilets that don't flush and bad hotels.

This built-in lack of objectivity was driven home yesterday on CNN, when Christian Amanpour called Iraq a debacle, based on her experience in the country, while many American military people feel like they are getting somewhere in bringing democracy to Iraq.

Even though we can now see battles on TV and read blogs on the Internet, we are still only listening to opinion and watching what someone selects for us to see out of an infinite number of stimuli.

Objectivity was always an illusion, and the fact that the media entire industry was built on a pretense of it is humorous in retrospect.

What's great about technology is that it gets opinions out there, and let's people come to their own decisions.
