With all of the technology available today, many more people are able to check stories and sources for themselves. The more that the mainstream media get caught with their pants down, the more the viewers demand credibility. It's possibly why Fox News has become number one in cable news, more credibility = more viewers. (I'm not trolling here, just a possible reason)

I think that CBS may have to try to be more credible in the future because of the technology that allowed the fake documents to be exposed for example.
