Bowing
"...but I don't think having a bias for the truth is necessarily a bad thing --or at least not as bad as having a bias with an agenda."

But what bias DOESN'T have an agenda? Isn't determining which information source has a 'bais for the truth' (if that's even possible) the whole crux of the matter?

"If nothing else, it gives us the ability to decide for ourselves from among a variety of diverse opinions rather than bowing at the monolith."

That's all fine and dandy if we (the people) really do choose from among a variety of diverse opinions. That requires skepticism and research. If we blindly assume that (for example) bloggers are just as credible as so-called 'traditional' journalists, or if we attribute a higher credibility to bloggers simply by virtue of their using 'modern technology' or simply because they AREN'T 'traditional' journalists, we are still 'bowing at the monolith'. It's just a different monolith.
