Just a load of Blxxx?
Last year I got involved with a start-up and helped them write a business plan to raise funding. They had fledgling semantic web technology and were applying it to improve Content Management enterprise systems and Knowledge flow in corporations.

Blogging potentially could have a big impact on KM systems, however the area where I am still uncertain regarding the use of blogging-type systems is with respect to source "credibility".

To explain?
To mind my, there are some key attributes regarding information which are:

Quality
Accuracy
Quantity

Quality is subjective and accuracy may be explicitly stated by an author or inferred. However all these metrics are inter-related. For example there may be 100's of discussion items from various interested parties on a particular subject (e.g Blogging!) which may all be interesting but may not be of any real value compared by a single contribution by a qualified expert on the subject (n.b. not me in this case!)

One advantage with e mails is the option to filter and remove (forever) unwanted material immediately. Apart from the subject matter, this is done by the recipient assessing the name of the sender (based upon them being personally known or of known reputation)

Blogging allows more information to be put into the public domain by absolutely anyone.

My question with Blogging is, how quickly can it be used to find accurate and relevant information that is needed without trawling through irrelevant and quite probably misleading detail?

Regards
