Blogs and Knowledge Management
Nice story, thanks for that.
Sums up a few important points.

Dave Winer may be a bad charachter sometimes, but I think we all learnt about weblogs, rss and podstuff from his work.

I remember experimenting with Manila before acquiring the content management software for content-wire.com, but I got myself locked out - very bad with passwords - and did not have the patience to work things out, I needed a supported solution.

However, the great potential of weblogging technologies as 'basic' CMS tools became obvious to me in the early days

I always threaten my cms software providers that if things dont work well enough, or if the technology becomes to expensive, I'll dump everythinig and get our magazine onto a weblog

I was just looking back at this
post, where I was saying that 'the question should not be 'if' you need a cms, but 'what level of cms functionality' you need.

It was clear back then that blogs, given a bit of upgrading, would do the job well

The benefit that you mention in your article about blogs being searchable and their content exportable, is indeed important.

Blogs could be the solution to at least some of our 'knowledge management' problems.

Information is logged, indexed, can be sorted, retrievably, distributable, permanent, and accessible.

Corporate blogging is indeed becoming a reality
