Studies to the rescue...
Funny that these days if you can't win by mere quality, try changing the market opinion by taking recourse to some study. Who did the study, why the study was done and how the study was conducted are often ignored. TV and magazine ads are full of "A study done by bla bla firm found our product better than bla bla bla..."

It has been shown before that a vast majority of searches return more or less the same results no matter which rearch engine you use. It is those 5% or less which decide the market leader which undoubtedly is Google. Qulaity of search is the game here. Do you think it makes any difference if the results are 147 million or 135 million. Who is going to look beyond first hundred results or so... In any case, search technology has a long way to go, where they look into the content model of the document, not just the keyword matching....
