To the next level then
Ok, now we have already seen the next generation of this line of reasoning moving from simple compression and attachment to compilation methods. Images can be solved either by links or by simple attachment into the binary package. In the pre dll days, we used to do this through linker tricks which would include the binary and the data/graphics all together in one big executeable. Which moves this yet to the next level of thought which might look something like an encapsulated Java bean or jar file. Now we can have our html/xml, and graphics all in one tidy compressed binary package for download across the always bandwidth limited links. This is akin to what we have today with ActiveX and client side Java. Many security problems abound. There just has to be a better way.
