- I had expected more from such companies.

Someone says "Searching is in", and WHAM everyone is whipping out search tools. "Check out our search tool". Is this a marketing thing or what?
Let me think about this.
Apple whipped out a new search OS X.
Google buys a company and then whips out Picasso. Okay, there's plenty of such programs, but this one is nice and free. Uses up a bit of processing power.
Then Google whips out the Google Desktop Search. That's okay, nothing special, but works faster than the MS OS search. Uses up a bit more of processing power; and still in Beta (but alot at Google is beta, but it's hard to complain about it when it's free).
Now, Yahoo runs out and and licenses some technology to whip out their own Search.
MS is working on their super search for Longhorn (where is that by the way?).
What gets me is there were programs that did this type of searching before. I can't figure how there is going to be a huge market for it (how often do I have to do a full search for a file or something in a file). I don't see everyone saying "I need a better search".
I always rooted Google and Yahoo, but now they're run by the same type of people who run other Giant companies, and as they try to innovate they shoot for the easy targets. I want them to develop something I don't know I need yet. - Posted by: el1jones Posted on: 01/11/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
