The problems is consumers don't have to do with out
Basically if you can't record it off you TIVO you download the stuff instead from P2P or Newsgroups. If anything this move by the studios is like trying put a fire out with gasoline.

The stupidest thing is the studio's don't know who thier customers are. There are people who just like to watch TV and conviently will record and watch later. These people aren't the people who will buy box sets of TV shows. The people buying box sets of TV shows are collectors. Having the box set is much more preferable than having homemade versions burned to DVD. I know I'm like that. I downloaded the entire Babylon 5 series before it was available on DVD and burned many of them to CDs (1 espisode per CD was expensive in terms of time). I could today buy a DVD burner and burn them but I find the box set much nicer for my collection. So I bought the box sets as they came out only get burned when they offered the whole series in one box set where you save a lot of cash. In effect this is preventing me from buying other TV series too. Waiting for the box set. Same thing with movies that you know will have 2 or more sequils(sp?).
